Wes Welker Engaged to Hooters Girl

It’s a sad day for women in the Boston-area. New England Patriots receiver Wes Welker has proposed to girlfriend Anna Burns, who was Miss Hooters International in 2005. Radio personality Kennedy of Carson and Kennedy broke the story, announcing the couple (who have been dating for over two years) were engaged over the holidays.

Qualitative Support for ‘Masshole’ Nickname

Don’t act surprised. Boston ranked No. 5 on a list of America’s rudest cities this month, according to Boston Magazine. While Bostonians were ranked high on the intelligence scale, they weren’t as appealling to visitors from a personality standpoint. We’re also cited as too often “gloating” about our championship sports teams. Call us strange, but we dont see the fun in winning without a little bit of gloating.

3. Washington D.C.

Kim Kardashian Replaced by Dog

Is it us or do Super Bowl commercials get as much media coverage as the actual game itself? With millions of viewers and potential consumers, it’s prime real estate for advertisers who compete against each other to make a splash. Topping the charts on our “must-have” list for a successful ad campaign? Sex appeal.

In “keeping up with” the Vanity spirit, we think Kim Kardashian’s Skechers ad was one of the hottest spots during the 2011 Super Bowl. Unfortunately for us, Kim’s contract has expired so it doesn’t look like we’ll see another steamy ad this year. After the Huffington Post reported the reality mogul had been dropped from the shoe company, Skechers released this statement:

“While Kim’s contract with Skechers simply came to an end at the end of last year, we continue to have a great relationship with her as we do with all the other talent who have worked with the brand over the years. To say that she was “dropped” or “replaced” is misleading and untrue. Skechers has enjoyed and continues to enjoy the relationship with Kim, and in fact we continue to discuss ways that we may work together in the future.”

USA Today reports that Miss Kardashian will be replaced by a French Bulldog in this year’s commercial.

What do you think? Was that a slap in the face to Kim K.? Or are little dogs just as cute as Kim in tight workout clothes and a layer of glistening sweat?

Ravens Fan Flips After Missed Kick

We admit it’s easy to find humor in this Ravens fan’s devastation since “we goin to the ship,” but this could be one of the best post-loss reactions ever. The best part? His friends don’t seem fazed in the least by his vulgar threats.

“We Goin to the Ship”

Rob Gronkowski has to be the most likable tight end in the NFL (although for a tight end, have you noticed his pants are awfully saggy in the rear?). He’s the ultimate guy’s guy (check out Barstool’s coverage of his “friendship” with porn star Bibi Jones) and is a beast on the field.

Completely uncensored after the Patriots’ victory in the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens Sunday, the 6’6″ 265lb tight end runs on pure adrenaline, even after an ankle injury took him out of the game during the third quarter on a 23-yard catch.

We’re praying that Gronk heals in the next few weeks because, as he’ll tell you, “We goin’ to the ship!”

The Man Behind the Mask

Sure, we put up with his unorthodox facial hair that overstayed its welcome following the 2011 NHL playoffs. We even found his soft, leprechaun voice kind of charming. But after his recent White House snub, Bruins fans are wondering if otherworldly goalie Tim Thomas is, well, human after all.

The face of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champion team was missing from yesterday’s White House reception celebrating last year’s Championship win.

“The Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties and Property of the People,” Thomas wrote in an open letter to Facebook fans defending his absence. “I exercised my right as a Free Citizen.”

The goalie says his choice wasn’t about politics or party, but we’re not sure.  It brings up the hot topic of whether or not hockey players should stick to playing hockey.

When we think of Thomas, we think of the ultimate team player. Did he have that in mind when making his decision to ditch the White House, which completely overshadowed the nod to the Bruins’ achievement? Bruins GM defended Thomas, saying it wasn’t a reflection of the Bruins, but one can’t help but wonder why he couldn’t have selected a different platform for his voice, one that wasn’t so intertwined with his teammates.

What do you think?
